Type I Slogans
Slogans are very common for the 1935-51 issue, and the type I slogans are not an exception. These were in use throughout 1937 and well into 1937. Most are from Buenos Aires, and given the width of the roller and the length for a non-repeatable section, singles will rarely have a complete postmark, and a single cannot have the entire text of the slogan. The cover shown below bears a complete example of a 1936 BUENOS AIRES C.G. slogan, dated March 10, 1 PM (Hour 13). The text in spanish reads: LA TUBERCULOSIS DEL GANADO ES TRANSMISIBLE AL HOMBRE HAGA PROFILAXIS which in English translated loosely to "Use modern methods of cleanliness because bovine tuberculoisis is transmissible to man." |
The cover shown below bears a faint example of a 1945 BUENOS AIRES 1 slogan dated April 23, 4 PM. This is a late usage for this type of slogan. The text in spanish reads: PARA COBRAR SUS CUENTAS UTILICE EL SERVICIO DE VALORES AL COBRO which in English translated loosely to "Use a postal account to pay for your bills." |
