Tapisserie de Lurcat: Jean Lurcat (1892-1966) is a contemporary tapestry maker. He was influenced by the tapestry depicting the apocalypse found at the Chateau d'Angers. He joined the French resistance during the Nazi occupation in World War II. |

The Cratere de Vix is a bornze vase. The image shown here is a small highlight from the top collar of the vase. The large size (1.24 meters in height) and weight (208.6 KG) of this vase indicates that it was likely used for large ceremonies. It dates from approximately 530 B.C. |

Georges de la Tour (1593-1652) painted "The Newborn" circa 1645. de la Tour makes affective use of light (notice the candle is hidden behind the hand of the woman depicted left). He also captures maternity without any obvious religious references. |
