Article 148: France Prephilatelic ( stampless ) Covers from the 18th and 19th Centuries

Here is a 1702 letter to Avignon. As was the custom before the 1760s in Europe and the European colonies, there is no postmark. This letter, although most likely mailed by some sort of a commercial enterprise, is from before the establishment of central government post offices. The letter is of a commercial nature (notice the sum of two quantities on the first page).
