Article 6: The 1 Yuan China Architecture Value

The 1 Yuan of the China Architecture Definitives series is one of the more commonly used values. It is often found making up rates between 3 and 6 Yuan. Below is a 1.6 Yuan rate detail from a cover with a single 1 Yuan accompanied by 0.50 Yuan and 0.10 Yuan values..
Below are details of two beautiful covers. The top cover is a 3.60 Yuan airmail rate to the U.S.. It bears a vertical strip of three of the 1 Yuan, accompanied by a 0.50 Yuan commemorative and a 0.10 Yuan Architecture definitive. The bottom cover is another 3.60 Yuan airmail rate to the U.S.. It bears a vertical strip of three of the 1 Yuan, accompanied by a vertical pair of 0.30 Yuan commemoratives.
There are several major types of postmarks found on Chinese covers of the 1990s. The left selection has a poatmark with Chinese and Arabic descriptions. The right-had column has, from top to bottom, examples of a small-town postmark, a city postmark-the predominant marking on these covers, and a larger image of the dual language postmark shown on the left-hand column.
Below are four high resolution examples showing color variations and slight printing shifts.
