Postal History of the 20c Large Cow (Ganaderia)
Here are two censored covers bearing specimens of the first 20cLC issued, the 20cLC1E, on watermarked cream paper with the first watermark. A detailed study of the postal history of the 20cLC is left for the future. There are three separate pages associated with the 20cLC issues in addition to this one: one dedicated to the issues, and another dedicated to plate varieties and printing shifts between the two plates used. The cover below, from Buenos Aires to Connecticut, U.S.A., was postmarked November 8, 1942. It bears the early form of American censorship, composed of thick, white, gummed paper printed with the legend "EXAMINED BY." The horizontal pair of 20cLC stamps is accompanied by a 40c1E, and a 35c commemorative, for a 1.15 pesos airmail rate to North America. |
The cover below, from Buenos Aires to New York City, U.S.A., was postmarked December 1944. It bears the late form of American censorship, composed of a transparent, yellowish tape, printed with the legend "EXAMINED BY," and stamped with balck ink with a reference number, "7321" in this case, presumably of the examiner. There are six singles of the 20cLC issue, accompanied by a 5 centavos Moreno typographed on clay paper, the 5cCLt, for a 1.25 pesos airmail rate to North America. |
