20-Postal History 1935 to 1940
This issue has an amazing postal history. In this first page, I show a sample of early covers. I recommend to anyone interested in this issue, to assemble a small group of representative covers from each of the periods that roughly represent each of the groups of issues. The 1E stamps are well represented in these early covers, and because no other printings had been issued at the time, these covers only contain 1E stamps. Below is a philatelic cover with various "cents" stamps. I have a dedicated group of pages for these "cents" issues elsewhere in this web site. |

Below are three representative air mail covers from the late 1930s. The first two have the 1 Peso as the highest value, and the last one is a 2 Pesos cover. The first cover below is to Frankfurt, Germany. It is postmarked by a BUENOS AIRES 1, on June 25, 1938. Below I show a detail of the 30c1E, and the postmark. |

Below is a cover to Santa Barbara, California, U.S. from January 25, 1940. The cover bears a 5c1Et (from the typographed printing on cream paper), a 30c1E, and a pair of the 1P1E. The 1 Peso received heavy usage, and even at this early stage of this issue, the plates are showing slight wear: not that the light blue background is slightly faded. |

Below is a high value cover from 1939. The 2 Pesos was a high value at the beginning of this issue, and by the end, in the late 1950s, it was a middle value. This cover was mailed to Nanterre, France, months before the outbreak of World War II. Below I show details of the 40c1E, 50c1E, and 2P1E. The plates are in a clean state. The 2 Pesos shown below is especially crisp. |
