This is the lowest values of the series. There are several printings of this stamp, as shown below. The stamp below left is from the earliest printing. The plate is clean and the design is crisp. The stamp below right is a reddish purple, and the impression is not as clear. These are the two major types of early 05c1Es. Here is yet another early 05c1E, with a slight variation on the reddish purple shade.

This specimen is from a later, and worn-out, state of the plate.

This specimen is also from a later, and worn-out, state of the plate, and has a different shade of purple when compared to the left specimen.

These two specimens have comb perforations, and are therefore 05c1EC vatieties. Notice how different these two color variations are.
