The Argentina 1935-51 20 Pesos is one of the great high value definitives of the 20th century. The early printings are extremely rare on cover, and the later printings were in use when the stamp was still a mid-range high value. The 20PNGR is printed on grayish unwatermarked paper with a grid pattern. The design center is as clear as in the 20P1E, but with a more diffused look. |

Here is a postal forgery. This stamp is actually much rarer than the genuine specimens of the 20PNGR! According to an article at my disposal, this forgery circulated between July 1946 and February 1947, which is the period of use for the 20PNGR. This stamp was first discovered by a collector in Venezuela. Apparently, most were used on packages to other countries, and this practice allowed the forgeries to be used with impunity for some time. |
