Argentina 1935-51 2 Pesos 1L "milky-tumble" Issue
The 2P1L "tumble" printing variety shows a distinctive double printing. Most of these stamps, when the double printing takes place well-aligned, look "milky." The specimens shown here, however, show clearly discernible doubling. The specimen shown below has a shadow image with a small shift visible from its lower edge. |

The specimen shown below has a shadow image visible from its upper edge. The shift is larger for this specimen. |

The specimen shown below has a diagonally shifted shadow image. This specimen shows that the tumbling effect is most likely due due to re-printing sheets with the center already printed once lightly. Another possibility is that there is only one printing, but that the plate wobbled, causing the doubling effect. |
