These cancellers are used in addition to the postmark and must have been designed to reduce reuse of high values that have been postmarked faintly. I purchased the 437 covers in this correspondence from eBay in two batches in January and February of 2002. All are addressed to the Wells Fargo Bank in New York City from a small number of banks in India from 1980 to 1982. Most covers are from 1982. There are 97 rates from 2.60 Rupees to 15.50 Rupees. The covers contain 2,476 stamps.
